The Story
Hypothesis
The idea was to build a peer-to-peer betting platform powered by Bitcoin sats and the Lightning Network. The goal was to let users create a bet on virtually anything—sports outcomes, weather events, stock prices, and more—and go head-to-head with another person, without a traditional intermediary.
The Build
The project was built using Replit, with the Lightning Network integration proving to be the biggest technical challenge. Payments were handled using Alby and Bitcoin Connect, allowing users to generate Lightning invoices and send sats directly between participants as part of the betting flow.
Learnings
Was too complicated, Lightning Network adoption isn't quite where it needs to be yet.
